Christophe made 18 loan appearances for the Blues earlier this season
Southend United midfielder Jean-Francois Christophe says he cannot wait to pull on a Blues shirt again.
Christophe will officially become a Southend player on 1 January 2009 having agreed a permanent move from Portsmouth earlier this month.
The 26-year-old spent three months on loan with the club earlier this season.
"I'm very pleased they have given me a chance to be permanent, but now I have to take my chance and prove they were right to take me," he told BBC Essex.
The French midfielder will return to for the Essex side for Saturday's FA Cup tie at Premier League contenders Chelsea.
"Yeah, it will be a good game," he said. "I saw them against Fulham this week and they are a very good team."
But he promised he would not allow himself to be overawed by the occasion.
"The name on the back [of the shirts] might say Lampard, Mikel or Drogba, but on the pitch you don't care - you just play against a man who's got two hands and two legs just like you."
