Southend United will sign Jean Francois Christophe on a permanent basis when the transfer window opens in January.
The Frenchman has spent three months on loan from Portsmouth but injury forced him to return to Fratton Park early.
Christophe has specialised in late goals during his time with the Blues, scoring last minute equalisers against Colchester and AFC Telford.
Southend manager Steve Tilson told BBC Essex: "He's done really well and wants to work hard."
Christophe becomes the second Frenchman to pledge his future to Southend after Francis Laurent agreed a contract extension until 2011.
Christophe will sign a similar deal when the transfer window opens in January.
