Southend United have completed the signing of veteran striker Paul Furlong on a free transfer.
Furlong will be 40-years-old in October but Southend have wanted an experienced forward to complement Lee Barnard and James Walker.
Furlong, who played for Chelsea, Birmingham, QPR and spent last season with Luton, joins on a one-year deal.
He said: "At my age chances are few and far between so I'm delighted Southend showed an interest in me."
Furlong becomes Southend's fourth summer signing and follows the capture of Osei Sankofa on Monday.
He added: "I don't want to be a bit part player and I want to do the best I can for the club as well as helping the younger players."
