Charlton have decided to release Osei Sankofa, who had been with the club for almost a decade signing joining as a 14-year-old schoolboy.
He made his Charlton debut aged 18 against Manchester United at Old Trafford but has made only 19 appearances in six seasons.
Sankofa, who rose through the Addicks' academy, ended last season on loan at League Two Brentford.
Now 23, Sankofa is eager to secure regular first-team football.
He told Charlton's website: "I am confident in my ability and know what I am capable of.
"It's now a case of playing consistently and showing people what I can do, rather than in fits and starts."
Manager Alan Pardew said: "We both felt that it was time that Osei got first-team football.
"He's at an age where reserve football is no good to him, and therefore we have decided to give him that opportunity elsewhere.
"I wish him all the best because he has been a very good professional for this football club."
