Defender Simon Francis says he is ready to sign a new contract to keep him as a Southend United player.

The 23-year-old was one of three Blues players to be put on the transfer list two weeks ago after failing to agree extensions to their contracts.

But Francis has confirmed he will commit to the club for two more years in the coming few weeks.

He told the club's website: "I am happy that it has been sorted because I have never wanted to leave."
