Southend United defender Simon Francis has said he is close to signing a new deal at Roots Hall.
The 23-year-old joined the Essex club in 2006 and was a regular fixture in the Blues' run to the League One play-offs this season.
The right-back told the club's website: "There are one or two things to sort out but I'm sure I'm going to sign it.
"The contract offer shows the club must be pleased with the way I played when I got into the team last season."
Francis added: "It's a reward for what I've done and I'm pleased as I want nothing more than staying at Southend."
Meanwhile five other players could be extending their stays with the club.
Goalkeeper Darryl Flahavan and midfielders Nicky Bailey, Mark Gower and Alan McCormack are all discussing longer deals with manager Steve Tilson.
