John signed for Southampton from Sunderland in 2007
Southampton boss Alan Pardew has offered striker Stern John a new deal to remain at St Mary's.
The Trinidad and Tobago international's existing deal expired last month, and the 32-year-old was expected to move on following a loan spell at Bristol City.
Pardew told BBC Radio Solent: "We have offered Stern a contract. He has a lot to offer, not least goals, and I think he'll stay."
Saints strikers Marek Saganowski and Grzegorz Rasiak are expected to leave.
