Nathan Dyer described Swansea as the 'Arsenal of the Championship'
Southampton winger Nathan Dyer has completed his permanent move to Swansea City for a fee of £400,000.
Dyer, 21, has put pen to paper on a three-year contract despite uncertainty over the future of manager Roberto Martinez, who is wanted by Celtic.
"I want to be playing Premier League football and I want to get there with Swansea," said Dyer who was on loan at the Liberty Stadium last season.
Dyer is the second signing following striker Stephen Dobbie's arrival.
The £400,000 fee matches the club record set last year that the Swans paid Stockport County for Ashley Williams.
Dyer had set his heart on retuning to the south Wales club after scoring four goals in 21 appearances that saw the Swans just fall short of the Championship play-offs.
He had only signed a new three-year deal at Southampton last summer after coming through the trainee ranks at St Mary's.
But after making one start he was loaned out to Sheffield United, who later had a £1.2m bid for the player turned down.
Swansea moved to bring in the youngster on loan when the January transfer window opened, and he proved to be a valuable addition as Martinez's side pushed for a Championship play-off place.
But while Dyer was on loan in south Wales, Southampton's holding company Southampton Leisure Holding was put into administration with debts of £27.5m.
The cash-strapped south coast club, which was unable to pay wages last week, insisted they would not sell their players on the cheap, but agreed a £400,000 deal for the youngster.
"I'm really happy that it's all signed and down on paper and I can't wait to get going in pre-season,'' said Dyer.
"From the moment I first moved here I felt that it would have been the right move for me in order to progress with my career and develop as a player, especially with the way Swansea play football."
He added: "We just missed out on the play-offs last time around, which was unfortunate, yet still an achievement in itself considering the club just came up from League One.
"But I think we can go that one step further next season and finish in a higher position.''
