Winger Nathan Dyer says he hopes his loan spell at Swansea City can be turned into a permanent move.

Dyer's parent club Southampton are considering a bid from the Swans, which is reported to be in the region of £200,000.

"I know there is some sort of bid being made, but I'm not sure of the figures," the 21-year-old told BBC Wales.

"As far as I know I want to stay and the manager [Roberto Martinez] wants me to stay."

He added: "I said from the start I wanted to stay here.

"[After] my first couple of games I knew that this was the club [which] was going to help my progress and help me move forward."

Dyer has been on loan at the Liberty Stadium since January, scoring four times in 20 appearances as the Swans push for a play-off place.

The Swans were linked with making that move permanent at the end of the January transfer window, with Southampton reportedly holding out for £750,000.

Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins said at the time that the club would not be "pushed into a corner" over a fee.

Since then, the Saints holding company Southampton Leisure Holding has been put into administration with debts of £27.5m.

That could mean the Swans getting him for a cheaper fee with Southampton now reported to be looking for £500,000.

Dyer is one of the Saints prize assets after coming through the trainee ranks at St Mary's and was awarded a new three year contract last summer.

But after making one start, he was loaned out to United, who later had a £1.2m bid turned down.

Swansea moved to bring the youngster in on loan when the January transfer window opened.

"We've been talking with Southampton since Nathan joined us and that's never stopped," said Swansea manager Roberto Martinez.

The Spaniard also played down speculation linking the club to Queen of the South's 20-goal top scorer Stephen Dobbie.

Striker Dobbie's contract at the Scottish First Division side runs out at the end of the season.

But Martinez said: "We've been following many, many players and Stephen's name has come into the Press but I don't know how or why."
