Merrington support for Saints duo
John Gorman and Jason Dodd
Gorman and Dodd have been in charge since George Burley's exit
Former Southampton boss Dave Merrington would like to see caretaker bosses Jason Dodd and John Gorman stay in charge until the end of the season.

The duo took over the management of the club temporarily after George Burley left to become Scotland's new manager.

Merrington told BBC Radio Solent: "In the last two games the players have worked hard for them.

"I felt under George Burley we'd lost that recently. Why not give them a chance until the end of the season?"

Dodd and Gorman have won one, drawn one and lost one in the three matches they have been at the helm.

Merrington was manager of the south coast club in the 1995/96 season.
