Shrewsbury give trial to Rangers midfielder Paul Emslie
Emsile has enjoyed loan spells at Peterhead and Clyde
Shrewsbury have brought in Rangers and former Scottish Under-19 midfielder Paul Emslie on a week's trial.
The 22-year-old, a product of the Ibrox youth system, spent the second half of last season on loan at Peterhead, scoring three goals in 12 games.
Shrews assistant manager John Trewick told BBC Radio Shropshire: "He's been recommended to us, and we're happy to give him the chance to impress.
"We'll get him involved in pre-season training and see what he can do."
Emslie has made just one appearance for Rangers, coming off the bench in their 4-0 League cup victory over East Fife in September 2007.
Shrewsbury are also said to be chasing a number of other targets.
Trewick added: "Our squad clearly isn't big enough at the moment, and we have a number of possible deals bubbling under - but sometimes you have to play a bit of a waiting game."
