Simpson was delighted with team's victory against AFC Telford
Shrewsbury Town regained the Shropshire Senior Cup after beating AFC Telford United 2-1 at the New Bucks Head.
Waide Fairhurst put Shrewsbury ahead after 44 minutes but Jon Adams equalised for Blue Square North side Telford on the stroke of half-time.
Town striker Kris Bright was on hand to deflect Kevin McIntyre's shot in the 60th minute to score the winner.
"It means a lot to the fans and we're all thrilled to bits," Shrews manager Paul Simpson told BBC Shropshire.
Telford won the Senior Cup for the first time in 16 years in July after beating Town on penalties, but Simpson was glad to have put that defeat behind them.
I thought we shaded the game, but they've had to bring their first team here to beat us, which says a lot about our players
Telford boss Rob Smith
"I'm delighted with the spirit, delighted with the way we've gone about it," he added.
Shrewsbury received a blow before the game after it was revealed goalkeeper Chris Neal had broken his finger and could be out of action for six weeks.
"We're looking for another goalkeeper, it's a massive blow for Chris to break his finger. I've been looking to bring someone in since Monday, I've got a couple in mind," Simpson said.
Telford boss Rob Smith said he was proud of his team's performance.
He said: "I thought we shaded the game, but they've had to bring their first team here to beat us, which says a lot about our players."
