Better news for Shrews striker

Shrewsbury striker Dave Hibbert has been told he could be back playing in 10 days' time after having treatment on an Achilles problem.

The striker, who has scored eight goals this season, saw a specialist and it is now hoped he will back in time to play against Notts County on 31 October.

"Hopefully Hibbo will be OK now," Shrewsbury manager Paul Simpson told the club website.

"The specialist thinks we have caught the problem just at the right time."

But fellow forward Jake Robinson has been told he could be out for three weeks with his own ankle problem.

Robinson picked up his injury in the first half against Darlington, leaving the ground on crutches. He is expected to be out of action until early November, with the injury forcing the manager to find a replacement.

"I've been looking [at the loan market] but it's a case of trying to get players who'll better us," Simpson told BBC Radio Shropshire.

"Now we need players to make up the numbers, which is frustrating."

Simpson said he had targeted five players last week for a possible loan deal, but was turned down by their respective clubs.
