Dean Holden joined Shrewsbury in the summer from Falkirk
Dean Holden has backed Shrewsbury for promotion this season, with a few goals from the full-back position himself.
"I was a one-in-ten man in my early days," he told BBC Radio Shropshire, as boss Paul Simpson called for more goals from around the squad.
"I try to get forward as much as I can, and if the opportunity arises there's nothing better than scoring a goal.
"Performances have been decent, and while positions in tables don't mean that much now our aim is promotion."
Holden signed for Shrewsbury in the summer from Scottish Premier League side Falkirk, after previous spells with Bolton, Oldham and Peterborough.
"I enjoyed my time in Scotland, but it's a bit strange there. One week you can be playing in front of 60,000 against Rangers or Celtic, the next week there's a crowd of 2,000 at Inverness," Holden added.
"I wanted to get back to English football and its intensity and competitiveness, which I really enjoy."
