Shrewsbury kept their first clean sheet of the season as they beat Crewe 2-0.
Dave Hibbert swept in his sixth goal of the season with a left-foot shot on the turn while Joel Grant shot over as Crewe went in search of an equaliser.
After the break, Joss Labadie fired low beyond visiting keeper David Button from 25 yards to extend Shrews' lead.
The visitors continued to make chances but Anthony Elding skimmed the bar and Byron Moore hit the post, while Graham Coughlan did likewise for the Shrews.
Shrewsbury boss Paul Simpson told BBC Radio Shropshire:
"This was an important win for us, a big three points.
"It was another goal from Dave Hibbert, who's on fire at the moment, and a great strike from Joss Labadie from the edge of the box.
"It was a massive thing to get a clean sheet as well - it seems a long time since we've had one of those.
"Last week people said we didn't have any luck (losing 2-1 to Bradford) but this week - who cares. It gives us confidence, and something to build on."
Crewe boss Gudjon Thordarsson told BBC Radio Stoke:
"Over the 90 minutes I felt that we did enough to get something out of the game."
"With the amount of chances that we created, I'm disappointed that we didn't put one in to the back of the net."
"Shrewsbury are a good side, we knew it would be tough and we knew that they could come at us."
