Shrews boss in talks with keepers

Paul Simpson
Simpson is in talks with a number of goalkeepers

Shrewsbury Town boss Paul Simpson is in discussions with potential signings to cover his shortage of goalkeepers.

"I'm talking to a number of keepers to see what the situation is, but I'm not expecting any signings this week," Simpson told BBC Radio Shropshire.

Shrewsbury had Luke Daniels on loan last season from West Brom and Simpson has not ruled him out of the equation.

"It's something I'll keep my eye on - but while a return is unlikely, you just never know in football," he added.

Simpson currently has only one goalkeeper, Glyn Garner, on his books but he knows that luring Daniels back could be more difficult following Tony Mowbray's departure from West Brom to Celtic.

"I'm still in contact with West Brom about Luke but all the players there will want to impress the new manager," he added.

Daniels won the man-of-the-match award for his heroics in the penalty shoot-out against Bury at Gigg Lane in the League Two play-off semi-final.
