Shrewsbury Town manager Paul Simpson has declared his interest in Brighton & Hove Albion striker Jake Robinson.
The 22-year-old, who began his career with the Seagulls, was released by the League One club after finishing the season on loan at Aldershot.
"When we played Aldershot, I said then he was a player that interested me and I tried to sign him at the time," Simpson told BBC Radio Shropshire.
"Robinson is a player that still interests me."
The striker was loaned to Aldershot in February, after falling out of favour at Brighton.
He made his debut for his hometown club when he was 16 and became the Seagulls' youngest scorer with his goal against Forest Green in the LDV Vans Trophy in 2003.
Shrews boss Simpson has made it one of his priorities to find a striker who can partner Grant Holt up front after releasing Michael Symes and Nick Chadwick.
He has also opted not to offer a contract to Richard Walker, who was on loan from Bristol Rovers.
Meanwhile Ben Davies, Steven Leslie, Chris Humphrey, Kelvin Langmead, Darren Moss and Omer Riza have all been offered new contracts.
