Simpson is looking to re-establish Shrewsbury's promotion credentials
Shrewsbury Town boss Paul Simpson has said he is expecting there to be moves in and out of the club during January.
Town have won just one of their last four games and Simpson told BBC Radio Shropshire: "Over this last month it's made us realise we are a bit short.
"If it means moving a couple of faces on and bringing a couple of new faces in that's what we'll have to do."
Simpson may well be looking at a striker to support top scorer Grant Holt, as well as a strong midfielder.
He added: "There's no point bringing in extra bodies just for the sake of it though.
"They've got to be better than what we've already got, and hopefully that'll be the case."
Simpson cannot promise to have a new signing in time for Shrewsbury's opening game of 2009 at Bradford, but hopes to have fresh blood on board for the derby game with Chester on 10 January.
