The Shropshire Senior Cup final has been postponed until late in the season after torrential rain forced the abandonment of a semi-final tie.

Telford's match against Bridgnorth was abandoned after two minutes because of an electrical storm and flooding.

Shrewsbury scraped through their semi-final 3-2 against plucky Market Drayton, thanks to an injury-time winner from Michael Symes.

The clubs and the Shropshire FA cannot yet set a date for the final.

"It was absolutely unbelievable weather - there was no other option than to abandon the (Bridgnorth) game," said Telford chairman Lee Carter.

Shrewsbury manager Paul Simpson praised Market Drayton for running his side so close.

He said: "You have to give them credit for sticking to their game-plan and playing some decent football."
