Sheffield Wednesday have extended the contracts of defenders Richard Wood and Tommy Spurr by a further year until the end of the 2009/10 season.
Both players would have been out of contract at the end of the season.
Owls boss Brian Laws believes the deals should calm fans' fears that the Owls were about to sell their young stars.
He said: "They are going nowhere. We are looking for the futures of Richard, Tommy and Mark Beevers to be secured for as long as possible."
Wood is the first-team captain and had a transfer request rejected earlier this season after Coventry made a bid for him.
Meanwhile, young striker Luke Boden has joined Rushden & Diamonds on a month's loan.
This will be Boden's second stint away from Hillsborough this season after having previously spent a month with Chesterfield.
The 19-year-old will remain with the Northamptonshire side until 9 December.
There is live and exclusive commentary of Sheffield Wednesday v Doncaster Rovers in BBC Radio Sheffield's Football Heaven on Saturday from 1400 GMT.
