Sheffield United defender Derek Geary has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a serious ankle injury.
The 29-year-old Irishman only returned in November from a knee injury that ruled him out for 15 months and threatened to finish his career.
"That will be Del done for the rest of the season," Blades manager Kevin Blackwell told BBC Radio Sheffield.
"He had come back from such a bad knee injury, which would have finished most - to have this is a savage blow."
Geary suffered the injury making a tackle during the 1-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest on 16 February and came off after 39 minutes.
