Travis quits Blades for Australia

Sheffield United

Sheffield United midfielder Nicky Travis has completed his move to Australian side Central Coast Mariners.

The 22-year-old, who did not play a senior game for the Blades, has signed a one-year deal with the A-League outfit after a five-week trial.

Travis' move comes through Sheffield United's link with the Mariners, which was agreed by the clubs last year.

"Nicky will bring a lot of experience with him," Mariners executive chairman Lyall Gorman told the club's website.

"His signing also proves how beneficial our link with Sheffield United is and my thanks go to their chairman Kevin McCabe for the way he's handled negotiations at his end."

Although Travis was unable to make his mark at Bramall Lane, he did have a spell on loan at Chesterfield.
