Sheffield United have opened contract negotiations with former Reading and England Under-21 striker Leroy Lita.
The 24-year-old was released by the Royals in June after four years with the Madejski Stadium side.
Blades boss Kevin Blackwell told BBC Radio Sheffield: "I've been in contact with his agent. It's a classic example of too many people talking for him.
"I'd like to think the kid could play his football and let the rest take care of itself, sadly it's never like that."
Lita has also recently been linked with a move to Leicester City and previously turned down the chance to move to Bramall Lane in January.
Blackwell is also hoping to sign triallist Glen Little, but is again not happy with how negotiations are unfolding.
"I've offered Glen a contract but I think his mum and dad want to get involved and his daughter and sister, so we'll see," he said.
"He's done well and we've put in an offer that we think is genuinely worth taking into consideration."
Little, 33, is a free agent after being released by Portsmouth having spent the end of last season on loan at Reading.
