Sheffield United are in transfer talks with Bristol City winger Michael McIndoe after the Championship rivals agreed an undisclosed fee.
The 29-year-old Scot has been at Ashton Gate since August 2007 and has scored 13 goals in 97 appearances.
Bristol City boss Gary Johnson told BBC Points West: "They are talking to Macca. I think it will happen within the next couple of days."
McIndoe has played for eight different clubs including Doncaster and Barnsley.
City have signed three new players in as many days and talking on the first day of pre-season training Johnson said he was pleased with all his new additions.
"David Clarkson is probably the better known of the three," he said. "He's scored 14 goals in 30 odd appearances [for Motherwell].
Johnson still has Premier ambitions
"If we'd left it any later we might have had to pay three, four, five million for him.
"For some supporters he might not be a big enough name but Rooney and Ronaldo weren't available."
Johnson also revealed that the players had been been put through their paces with a series of bleep tests to measure their fitness levels.
"A lot of them have come back very fit, fitter than they were last year," he said. "There are one or two that will get a kick up the backside.
"All our ambitions are to get this club to the Premiership and we've got to give it our best shot and see where we are."
