Sheffield United striker Billy Sharp still has a future at Bramall Lane, according to manager Kevin Blackwell.
The 23-year-old, who scored six times last season, is being linked with Leeds United and Huddersfield.
Blackwell told BBC Radio Sheffield: "Everybody's got the same opportunity, they return pre-season with the same level playing field.
"You've got to fight for the right to be a Blade and players have got to work hard to be a Blade."
Sharp rejoined the Blades from Scunthorpe for a fee believed to be around £2m in 2007, but has scored only eight league goals since then.
Blackwell added: "Everybody else here has got an opportunity.
"They've got to work hard and try and put right the wrong of not getting into the Premier League."
