Matthew Spring is yet to start a league game for the Blades this season

Sheffield United midfielder Matthew Spring has been ruled out for several weeks after tearing ankle ligaments in a training session.

The 28-year-old is yet to start a league game for the Championship side after joining the Blades on a season long loan deal from Luton.

Blades manager Kevin Blackwell told BBC Radio Sheffield: "Matt went over on his ankle in training last week.

"It looks quite severe, I am hoping he will be back in three or four weeks."
