Scunthorpe United sign Morecambe winger Mark Duffy
Duffy scored seven goals for Morecambe
Scunthorpe United have completed the signing of Morecambe winger Mark Duffy for an undisclosed fee.
The 25-year-old joins the Championship club on a two-and-a-half-year deal with the option of an extra 12 months.
Duffy told BBC Radio Humberside: "I'm absolutely over the moon. As soon as my agent rang me I said, 'I want to go'.
"I didn't care who else was in for me, I want to play in the Championship. When I got a move to Morecambe in League Two I was over the moon."
He added: "So a Championship team like Scunthorpe coming in for me, you can only imagine how happy I was."
He wants to test himself at the highest level as possible, and I have every faith that he can [make the step up to the Championship]
Scunthorpe United manager Ian Baraclough on new signing Mark Duffy
Iron manager Ian Baraclough said: "He's something different to what we've got, a nippy right winger who likes to take people on and get in and around the box."
He's done very well at Morecambe and we are pleased to have him on board."
Duffy, who is a former Liverpool trainee, spent three months on loan with Morecambe from Southport in 2009 before making a £20,000 move that summer.
He has since made 72 appearances and scored seven times during his time with the Shrimps.
