Scunthorpe United are preparing to offer 19-year-old striker Matt Godden a new contract
The Iron youth product has made four substitute appearances since signing a one-year deal last summer.
"He wants to stay because he knows he's got a chance of playing here," said Scunthorpe manager Ian Baraclough told BBC Radio Humberside.
"He's seen what we've done with other strikers in the past and he wants to emulate them."
Godden made his first team debut for Scunthorpe as a substitute in the 5-2 defeat at home by Manchester United in the League Cup in September.
He has since made three further appearances from the bench but has yet to start a game for the Championship club.
Meanwhile, the Iron have recalled striker Bobby Grant from his loan spell at Rochdale and he could play against Everton on Saturday.
United have injury problems with Garry Thompson out with a groin problem.
