Scunthorpe United have taken over on-loan defender Eddie Nolan's contract until the end of the season.
The 22-year-old Republic of Ireland cap, whose Preston contract was set to expire this summer, was offered a contract by the Iron in October.
Nolan joined on a six-month loan deal in July, and has played 24 times for the Iron, after finding himself surplus to requirements at Deepdale.
The fee for the ex-Blackburn academy player's new deal is undisclosed.
"I'm delighted and I never hid the fact that I wanted Eddie to stay longer than his loan period," manager Ian Baraclough told BBC Radio Humberside.
"I always hoped we could keep him and I'm glad it's been resolved."
