Graham Taylor has supported Scunthorpe United since he was a boy

Scunthorpe United fan Graham Taylor will be at Wembley on Sunday hoping that his hometown club can win the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

The League One club go head to head with the Football League's bottom club Luton Town in the final.

And Taylor, now on the board at Luton's rivals Watford, told BBC Humberside: "This is a big game for both clubs.

"It puts the town of Scunthorpe on the map and it makes everybody aware of them," added the ex-England manager.

Taylor, who managed England at the old Wembley many times and took Watford there in the 1984 FA Cup final against Everton, knows what it means to the players.

"It's tremendous," he said. "Opportunities to appear at Wembley, especially for lower division clubs are rare, not that I see Scunthorpe like that. I see them as the number one club in the country.

"Although I managed Watford for a long time and there was a lot of rivalry, I feel great sympathy for Luton Town.

"What Nigel Adkins would have told his players, and he'll be aware of it, is that Luton Town are not a bottom-of-the-table Division Two side.

"You can see this by their record. They're down there simply because of their points deduction."

Taylor was introduced to the game by his late father Tom who, as a journalist on the local evening paper, first covered the Iron in the 1950s.
