Salisbury make first signings since transfer embargo

Salisbury City manager Tommy Widdrington has strengthened his squad with two new signings.

Defender Chris Giles, 27, has agreed to join the club until the end of the season after being released by Blue Square Premier rivals Crawley Town.

Aldershot striker Reece Connolly, 18, will come in on a one month loan to boost Salisbury's attacking options.

The new players are the first brought in by the Whites since the transfer embargo on them was lifted.

Neither will be available for Saturday's FA Trophy tie with Maidstone at the Raymond McEnhill Stadium.

Giles was injured whilst playing for Crawley against Salisbury earlier in the season and has previously played for Forest Green Rovers and Aldershot.

Widdrington was delighted to agree a deal.

"He's very much in the Chris Todd mould and is a central defender who can also play as a forward."

Connolly, who only turned 18 last week, is thought to be close to breaking into Aldershot's first team following impressive performances for the youth and reserve sides.

"He's an exciting, attacking player," said Widdrington. "He likes to get forward."
