Rushden & Diamonds have signed striker Rene Howe on loan from Peterborough United until January.

The 23-year-old moved from Bedford Town to Kettering Town in 2006, where he scored 25 goals in 40 games, before joining Posh in 2007.

Diamonds manager Justin Edinburgh told BBC Radio Northampton: "It's a major signing for us.

"He had loans at Morecambe and Rochdale where he's done well so I'm sure he'll be looking to get some goals."

During his time at London Road, Howe also had loan spells at Lincoln City and Gillingham.

"It's a great opportunity for him to put himself in the shop window if he does well for us," added Edinburgh

"We'll obviously be pleased with that, and it's a great opportunity for him to get himself back into the League."
