Rushden & Diamonds defender Simon Downer says he would prefer to play at centre-back but is willing to play in other positions to help the team.
Diamonds manager Justin Edinburgh has used the versatile former Grays player in a variety of positions this season.
The former Leyton Orient man, 28, told the club website: "I can play right-back but I don't enjoy it as much.
"I'm a lot more defensive-minded, but I don't mind doing a job out there as a wing-back."
Downer has had an injury-hit season, but returned to the side for the 2-1 win against Kidderminster.
He said: "We believe we're a good side, and we can beat anybody. I think we can really push on and achieve something.
"Last year when I got here there were people coming and going, but now everyone is gelling really well."
Meanwhile, Rushden and Diamonds have extended the loan of midfielder Mark Byrne from Nottingham Forest until the end of the season.
