Rushden and Diamonds striker Aaron O'Connor insists he is not fazed by the prospect of playing against his former club Mansfield Town this weekend.
The 26-year-old signed for Diamonds in the summer having been released by the Field Mill club.
O'Connor told BBC Radio Northampton: "I don't have anything to prove.
"Although they're my friends, I want to beat them, and if we don't win, I won't be happy. They'll know that when I play, I mean business."
O'Connor is competing with the Diamonds' top goalscorers, Cliff Akurang and Craig Farrell, for a starting place.
"I feel confident, and I think I've got a lot more to give this year," he said.
"If I'm fortunate enough to get picked I'll do my best, and try to give the manager a problem when it comes to picking the team.
"But I never like watching from the stands."
