Rochdale have completed the signing of defender Robbie Williams on a free transfer from Stockport County.
But experienced Alan Goodall, 30, back at Dale following his loan at Newport County, looks set to go the other way.
Goodall will move to Edgeley Park on a short-term deal until the end of the season, subject to passing a medical.
As for Williams, 26, he moves on just six months after arriving at Edgeley Park on a free transfer from Huddersfield Town in August 2010.
Williams began his career back in 2002 at Barnsley, where he was to become a regular in the first team.
He joined Blackpool on loan in 2007 and helped them gain promotion in the play-offs, before joining Huddersfield, where he made over 80 appearances.
Birkenhead-born Goodall came into league football with Rochdale from Bangor City in the summer of 2004.
He then spent a season at Luton Town before enjoying two years at Chesterfield, prior to his return to Spotland last summer.
He spent two months out on loan with Blue Square Bet Premier high fliers Newport County this season, before returning to Rochdale in early January.
