Rochdale have signed Alan Goodall on a six-month contract following the defender's release by Chesterfield.
The centre-half featured in Dale's friendly against Bradford, replacing the injured Craig Dawson, and signed the deal after the match.
The 28-year-old previously played at Spotland between 2004 and 2007, making more than 120 appearances.
Goodall is Dale's third recent signing after deals for winger Matty Done and striker Antony Elding.
