Rochdale manager Keith Hill has hailed Tom Kennedy as the best left-back in League Two.

The 24-year-old, named in last season's divisional team of the year, has been among the League Two leaders' most consistent performers this campaign.

Hill told BBC Radio Manchester: "Tom Kennedy's distribution is the best in the league.

"For a left-footed player, he is the best left-back in our league and he should be playing a higher standard."

Hill added: "Let's hope it is with Rochdale after the success of the 4-3-3 formation which worked for the second time on Saturday.

"We've employed it twice, in two away games, against Macclesfield and against Shrewsbury - and we won 1-0 twice. Six points and no goals conceded.

"We do create opportunities out of that formation, that shape and it's proved to be good for us defensively as well.

"We've got good players to play that shape, that formation. We've got good players with respect to playing any shape, any formation."
