Cambridge United striker Lee McEvilly has returned to former club Rochdale on loan with a view to a permanent move.
McEvilly, 26, has scored eight goals in 19 appearances for the U's this season.
U's have a number of forward options with Mark Beesley, Danny Crow, Chris Holroyd and loanee Scott Rendell all vying for a first-team place.
Cambridge boss Gary Brabin told the club website: "Although Lee is leading goalscorer, his last goal in open play was at the start of September."
McEvilly signed a two-year-deal at the Abbey Stadium over the summer having joined the club on loan in January.
The former Wrexham and Accrington man has enjoyed two previous spells with League Two Rochdale, scoring 28 goals in 92 league appearances.
