Brendan Rodgers replaced Steve Coppell as manager of Reading
Reading manager Brendan Rodgers is looking forward to testing himself against his former club Chelsea at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday.
The Championship side round off their pre-season programme against the Blues, where Rodgers spent over four years as the youth and reserve team manager.
"These two clubs have been a big part of my life in the 20 years since I moved here," said Rodgers.
He moved from Reading to Chelsea in 2004 and returned as manager in June.
Rodgers acknowledged the part that the FA Cup winners and former Premier League champions have played in his development as a manager.
"You could argue that my time at Chelsea has allowed me to be where I am because it gave me the confidence as a coach who can work with big players.
"I'm looking forward to the game immensely. It's about us finalising our preparations for the season."
Reading versus Chelsea kicks off at 1500 BST and is live on BBC Radio Berkshire.
