Murty led Reading to the 2005/06 Championship title |
Reading captain Graeme Murty has signed a new deal that will keep him at the club until 2008. The 32-year-old defender is the club's longest-serving player, following his arrival from York in 1998.
"I'm absolutely delighted to sign another contract," said the Scotland international, whose current deal was due to expire at the end of the season.
"This is where I want to be, playing in the Premiership with a team who have achieved so much and grown together."
Royals chairman John Madejski said: "Graeme's loyalty to Reading speaks for itself.
"He is a tremendously popular captain who leads by example and I am delighted to sign him for another two seasons."
Murty, who has a single cap for Scotland, has now made 296 appearances for the club since joining from York, where he started his career as a trainee.
