The 30-year-old, who was released by Fulham in the summer, has agreed a two-year deal with the Royals.

Hahnemann excelled during a loan spell at the Madejski Stadium last season and Royals boss Alan Pardew was delighted to have landed him on a permanent deal.

"I think he's the best offensive goalie outside the Premiership."

"He was an inspirational figure during his loan spell with us last season and will be an excellent addition to our squad as we mount our challenge for a successful first season back in Division One."

Hahnemann has been capped three times and was at the Colorado Rapids before signing for Fulham.
