Ricksen says he does not want to return to Ibrox

Ricksen, 30, signed for the Russians in August, following an incident on a flight to South Africa during pre-season.

"Here, it is great to be playing and that's something I missed in Glasgow," Ricksen told the Scottish Sun.

"I'm so happy to be away from there. Maybe I stayed there too long."

Ricksen returned to Ibrox with Zenit St Petersburg for a friendly in August, but was booed by the home fans following his heavy challenge on Chris Burke.

The Dutchman said: "The booing didn't do anything with me as I was finished with Rangers.

"I only wanted to win the friendly and I could understand the fans, especially when you lose 4-1."

The defender added: "I think there is a great future ahead for me and St Petersburg is the ideal place for me.

"Rangers are a fine club with a fantastic support, but the culture is not to my liking.

"As a player, I was always judged on things off the field and that wasn't fair.

"Of course, I realise I had caused that, but it's a pity that is the part the people remember."
