Fernando Ricksen had been told to find a new club |
Rangers outcast Fernando Ricksen has completed his move to Russian club Zenit St Petersburg on a year's loan. The 30-year-old Dutch defender passed a medical and agreed personal terms to be reunited with former Ibrox and international boss Dick Advocaat.
Ricksen was sent home from Rangers' pre-season tour of South Africa after an incident on the outbound flight.
And Rangers manager Paul Le Guen made it clear that Ricksen would be better off finding a new club.
Ricksen checked into the Sporting Chance Clinic following his premature return from South Africa and underwent residential counselling for anger management.
He returned to Glasgow last week but was not permitted to train with the rest of the first-team squad.
Ricksen, who moved to Glasgow six seasons ago, signed a four-year extension to his Rangers contract in February 2005.
As part of the proposed deal with Zenit, his new club will travel to Glasgow for a friendly match on 23 August.
