Rangers manager Alex McLeish was delighted with the way his side came to terms with the task of breaking down 10-man Celtic.
"The extra man certainly gave us an advantage but we played it well.
"I thought we handled it better in the
second half when we tried to stretch them more and played some good possession football.
"It was disappointing to see Celtic get back into it. I think the penalty was
down to Ian Murray's tiredness."
Meanwhile, McLeish admitted skipper Barry Ferguson had picked up a knock making him a doubtful starter for the Champions League third qualifying round second leg tie with Cypriots Anorthosis at Ibrox.
"It's a sore one," said McLeish, "and I think we will be counting the
minutes and seconds between now and Wednesday to see if Barry is going to be
fit."
