Rangers manager Alex McLeish won't be guilty of underestimating Champions League opponents Anorthosis Famagusta. The Cypriots beat Turkish side Trabzonspor 3-2 on aggregate to set up the final qualifying round clash.
"They have quality players and we will treat them with the utmost respect," McLeish told the Daily Express.
"They are obviously a very good team at home having scored three against Trabzonspor and the temperature will be in the nineties when we are out there."
Anorthosis are managed by former Newcastle and Dundee midfielder Temuri Ketsbaia, who continues to play at the age of 37.
They lost 1-0 in Turkey on Wednesday but progressed to record perhaps the best result in Cypriot football history.
But they will be without Greek defender Nicolaos Katsavakis, who will be suspended after being dismissed for a second bookable offence 15 minutes before the end.
Trabzonspor had taken the lead five minutes before half time through Fatih Tekke and Celaleddin Kocak had a goal chalked off for offside as the Turks came close to making their pressure tell.
The Cypriots held on to set up a repeat of the 1994 meeting with Rangers, when the Glasgow outfit won 1-0 on aggregate thanks to a Gordon Durie goal at Ibrox to progress to the group stages.
Anorthosis last season finished four points clear of defending champions APOEL as they secured their 12th Cypriot title despite being written off at the start of the campaign due to financial problems.
Ketsbaia, the former Georgia international, was top scorer with 16 goals.
The veteran is a legend at the club, with whom he is in his second spell, and he had to use his inspirational qualities as his side had gone into the tie with Trabzonspor as underdogs.
But the underlying tension between the Greek Cypriots and the Turks ensured a heated and emotional atmosphere in both legs that appeared to help Anorthosis to victory.
Anorthosis were made homeless in 1974 after the Turkish invasion of Cyprus forced them to abandon their GSE stadium as Famagusta came under occupation.
They now play at the Andonis Papadopoulos Stadium in Larnaca. However, Tuesday's tie with Rangers will be played in Nicosia.
