McLeish still cautious after win
CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
McLeish is desperate to qualify for the Champions League
Rangers manager Alex McLeish remained cautious despite his side leaving Cyprus with a 2-1 first-leg victory in their Champions League qualifier.

"We really have given ourselves a great chance," McLeish told BBC Sport.

"But we remain cautious. It was a good result, but Anorthosis Famagusta created chances here and can make chances at Ibrox.

"I was disappointed to lose a goal after going 2-0 up, but I'm happy and my midfield three were terrific."

McLeish admitted that Anorthosis had put his side under pressure early on.

"You have to weather the storm sometimes," he said.

"I was alarmed at the chance they had when they hit the post, but we had a couple of chances ourselves in the first half before taking the lead in the second."

Goalscorer Nacho Novo was particularly praised by McLeish.

And the Spanish striker said: "I am delighted to get my first goal of the season and hopefully I can go on from here.

"We are happy with the result and would have taken this result before the game.

"But we know there is another 90 minutes to come and it's going to be a long 90 minutes."
