Preston loanee Hume wants permanent move from Barnsley
Hume began his career in England with Tranmere Rovers
Iain Hume says that he would like to stay with Preston rather than return to parent club Barnsley.
The 26-year-old Canada international striker has been on loan at Deepdale since September and has scored twice in six starts.
Hume told the club website: "I am contracted to Barnsley until the end of the season and if they insist that I go back it is what I must do.
"I am hoping, however, that the two clubs can come to an arrangement."
He added: "I have enjoyed my time at Barnsley and the supporters were very good to me but I have got a fresh lease of life at Preston and I am settled here."
They are now saying they want to take Iain back on Thursday
Preston manager Darren Ferguson
Hume's immediate future has been thrown in to the balance following manager Darren Ferguson confirming that he is wanted back at Oakwell this week.
Ferguson said: "The situation when we signed Iain on loan is that they had a clause in the contract that they could take him back after a certain time.
"The chairman tried to sign him this week and tried to agree a fee but they then mentioned one of our players going the other way in a straight swap but they pulled the rug under that on Friday.
"They are now saying they want to take Iain back on Thursday and we will have to try and fight until then to get a deal done."
