Parry made 166 league appearances for Cardiff, scoring 27 goals
Paul Parry has said that making a fresh start was a major factor in his decision to leave Cardiff for Preston.
The 28-year-old has joined Preston North End for an undisclosed fee bringing an end to five and a half years with the Bluebirds.
"It's a new chapter for me, a new challenge something I've needed," Parry told BBC Radio Lancashire.
"Last season was my poorest. I felt I'd gone a bit stale and it was for the best to move on."
He added: "If I was to pick a position out I would probably say the right of midfield because I enjoy playing out there and cutting in on my left foot.
"But, I've got to work hard to fit in with the lads and bide my time probably and hopefully the selection will come along with it.
"It will be a tough league this year. There are twelve to fourteen teams in the Championship that you could probably pick that will have a chance of making the play-offs and Preston are one of them."
The Wales international has 11 caps for his country but has admitted that he does not expect to add to them in the near future.
"It's something I am not looking at so I'll just put it on the back burner and get on with playing for Preston.
"I don't think the call will come so I won't have a decision to make anyway," he added.
