Davidson laments injury nightmare

Callum Davidson
Defender Davidson has been out for a month with a hamstring injury

Preston defender Callum Davidson has admitted he is not sure if he will be fit enough to return to action at Bristol City on Saturday.

The 32-year-old left-back has completed 90 minutes just four times since the turn of the year.

He told BBC Radio Lancashire: "It feels like it's been stop-start, especially after Christmas.

"It feels like I am stuck in the treatment room all the time and it is so frustrating."

Davidson's injury-hit season started in August with a knee problem, since then he has had a calf injury and most recently been sidelined with a hamstring strain.

After making 40 league appearances last season, Davidson has been limited to just 18 so far this campaign.

He added: "To be honest I thought I would be ready for the Bristol City game, now I'm not quite sure.

"It's been a funny season, the knee injury at the start of the season was a bit of a freak one and you can't help that.

"But latterly they are probably ones you could help and that's the frustrating thing."

Preston are currently two points off the play-off places with six games remaining and Davidson believes they are still in with a great chance of winning promotion.

"It's a great position, we've got to play a little bit of catch up. We're all positive and really looking forward to the next six games," he said.
