Preston duo Sean St Ledger and Neil Mellor have signed new four-year contracts that will keep them at the club until 2012.
The pair both joined North End in the summer of 2006 and were out of contract at the end of this season.
"I'm over the moon to get it done and now concentrate on football," defender St Ledger told BBC Radio Lancashire.
"I'm delighted," added striker Mellor. "As soon as the manager told me a few weeks ago I've been desperate to sign."
Preston had the option of extending both players' current deals by a further year, but have replaced them with entirely new terms.
"It was a positive boost for myself that the manager asked me to sign a new contract before Christmas," said 25-year-old Mellor, who was their top scorer last season.
"When you are in the last year of your contract it's always a worry."
St Ledger, 23, who has been an ever-present this season added: "I enjoy playing for Preston.
"I like living in the north-west and I've always wanted to sign here. This is the best place for me to develop."
Both players will be hoping to end a run of six defeats in seven league matches when Preston host Watford on Tuesday.
